Whether due to illness, injury, or other extenuating circumstances, students and teachers are sometimes unable to attend class for an extended period of time. In these cases, remote/online learning is a great option to keep learning engaging, and to make communication between students, teachers, and parents seamless. Buncee makes remote student learning and communication easy. We spoke with educator and author Rachelle Dene Poth, and here’s what she had to say regarding Buncee and remote learning:
Using a platform like Buncee enables students to work from wherever they are and whenever it is convenient to them, where they are most comfortable, plus they have access to connecting with learners from around the world.
In order to assist schools experiencing closures due to the COVID19 outbreak, we’re offering free Buncee Classroom accounts during the period of their closure, so that students can continue communicating and learning wherever they may be.
At Buncee, we know that when we work together, we can create an interactive environment where student success can flourish no matter a student’s age, abilities, or location. Our friends in edtech, such as Microsoft Teams, Flipgrid, Wakelet, and Google, are just as passionate about supporting remote learning. Here’re some of the ways you can use Buncee together with these other educational tools to support your students, wherever they may be.
Create virtual lessons and assignments
With Buncee’s assortment of media options, creating a virtual lesson is quick and easy. Teachers can include text, video, audio, or even links to additional resources. Record your lesson using the video feature, or create an activity template for your student to complete at home. The classroom dashboard can then be utilized to share and track assignments. Teachers could also create a Buncee Board, so students can access materials, share their work, interact with their classmates, and participate in class discussions no matter where they are.
With Buncee and Microsoft Immersive Reader, teachers can ensure all students, regardless of their individual needs, can learn remotely as well. Students can use Immersive Reader to read the material at their own pace, and in a way that’s comfortable for them. Immersive Reader ensures learning is accessible for all types of learners both in the classroom and beyond.
Have students virtually respond and reflect
Using Buncee with Flipgrid
Using any of Buncee’s media options, students can use Buncee to share their assignment responses or project reflections. For example, students can record their own video response to share with their teacher. With our latest integration, teachers can add a Buncee as a Topic in Flipgrid, then encourage students to create a video response.
Share class lessons and learning resources
Using Buncee with Wakelet
Of course you could easily share your Buncees, and create a Buncee Board filled with lessons and activities, but Wakelet is also an excellent tool for creating collections of a wide variety of learning materials, and easily sharing them with your colleagues or students. Teachers can easily compile resources and materials, from links and documents, to videos and Buncees, for an entire unit of study all in one place.
Keep the discussion going
Microsoft Teams is a powerful tool that allows classrooms to easily communicate and collaborate. Here, teachers have a safe environment for their classrooms to share their class materials, or have their students engage in discussion. Learn more about using the Share to Teams feature with Buncee, about using Tabs with Buncee and Microsoft Teams, and sharing encouraging Buncee messages with your colleagues and students.
Perfect for younger students, another option to promote class discussion is Buncee Boards. Students can quickly share their work, and classmates easily comment and react to each other’s creations.
Share updates with your families
Teachers and school administrators can quickly create newsletters on Buncee to keep families up to date on school news and events. Buncee’s email feature makes it easy to share your school or class newsletters with parents, so everyone is on the same page. Plus, Immersive Reader’s language translation feature allows families of diverse backgrounds to easily understand school updates.
Together, we’re working to make learning accessible, easy, and fun for students everywhere. As Rachelle said,
…we are no longer confined to learning that only happens in the classroom. Creating a digital space where students can learn from one another, building many skills in the process, is what we need to do today to best prepare students for the future.
