3 Ways to Use Buncee to Highlight Student Achievements
Recognition is critical to student success. When students feel that their work is seen and appreciated, they’re motivated to continue working hard. “The power of praise in changing student behavior is that it both indicate teacher approval and informs the student about how the praised academic performance or behavior conforms to teacher expectations,” according to InterventionCentral.org.
In other words: praise leads to continually better work and more engaged students.
There are a variety of student achievements to highlight throughout the year, from completing important projects to logging the most reading with fun tools like Whooo’s Reading. Here are some other achievements to focus on:
- Most books read
- Most creative project
- End of the Year Superstars
- Most thoughtful tweet
- Best blog post written
While there are a number of ways you can praise students for this work, Buncee is a great tool to turn to. Students will love seeing their name or finished project highlighted with an awesome digital story or classroom newsletter. Here are a few fun ideas for highlighting student achievements with Buncee.
- Embed A Buncee Project on Your Class Blog
Your class blog is a great place to display an achievement buncee. Create a simple slide show, each slide displaying the success of a different student. Upload a photo of their project if necessary and customize it to match their personality.
Embed this project on your blog and show it in class. This will give students motivation to work harder so they can be featured on the blog too.
- Share A Digital Story On Your Class Twitter Account
Do you have a student who’s come a long way since the start of the school year? Perhaps there’s one student who went above and beyond to create an amazing class project. Collect photos and other assets, and create a digital story, detailing their progress. Consider doing this once a month, once a quarter or right after students complete a big project.
When finished, unveil the story on Twitter. Announce a time for all students log on (in class or out) to see who the chosen student is. They’ll be excited to see if it’s them, and again, motivated to do something great so they can get that coveted spot the next time.
- Design an Achievement Newsletter to Send Home
Create a monthly newsletter for parents, in which you share student achievements. Consider having multiple students featured in each one, by highlighting various categories of accomplishments. For example:
- Most Books Read
- Best Behavior
- Highest Math Score
Each winner gets their own slide with details about how they won this spot in the newsletter.
Bonus: Use Buncee to create certificates for all the students who get chosen for the newsletter. Print them and hand each one out in the classroom, giving students even more recognition for their hard work.
Recognizing students is critical to their success, both in school and in life. When students are praised for the work they do, they’re motivated to work harder, which in turn creates more engaged and excited learners. Use Buncee to highlight these achievements and make each student feel special.
